Weekly Snapshot

Outside my window... The sun is shinning..... FOR THE 3RD DAY IN A ROW! It is forecasted to be 75 degrees like yesterday was. I so love the northwest when the sun is shinning.

I am thinking... that I will be very surprised if I don't get a trip AGAIN today.

I am thankful for... the extra days at home.

From the kitchen... Not sure yet because im not even sure I will be home for dinner.

I am wearing... Jammies {again} =D

I am creating... still working on the 2011 book, it's ready for proofing and now working on the 2012 book and trying to stay current on the 2013.

I am going... That is a good question.... I have no idea, however we did book a trip for the end of June to Barbados since our trip to Italy was canceled.

I am reading... Finally started reading The Uglies that was suggested to me from Ian.

I am hoping... the forecast is wrong for the weekend and that we get sunshine so we can work out in the yard.

One of my favorite things... My coffee this morning..... Always!

A few plans for the rest of the week... Haircuts for kids, a few days on call, and although I am off for the weekend so far no plans. It is suppose to be raining again =(

Here is a picture thought I am sharing.

This is Ian after he tested for his 9th kyu and earned his yellow belt. I am so very, very, proud of him!

Ian tests for his 9th kyu

Ian tested for his 9th kyu in Ninjutsu. He didn't think he was ready but his Sensei said he was so test he did! I watched the end of it and he did a great job and earned his yellow belt! I am so proud of him!

Mr. Alter Wiener, Holocaust Survivor

Mr. Wiener came to talk to the 8th grade class and the parents were invited to stay to listen to him speak as well.  It was such a moving talk about all the horrific things he lived through, I was brought to tears several times. The students were also touched and were very respectful and asked thoughtful questions. What a fantastic opportunity for these kids. Mr. Wiener is 87 years old.

Happy Birthday Ian

How DID you get to be 14?

I really don't know where the time went but 14 years have speed by and you turned 14 today.  I am such a lucky mom to have you for a son. I love the conversations we have together.

Snow Day Fun

The kids all got out of their uniforms and got into their snow clothes to make the most of this unexpected snow day. They attempted to sled down the most awesome sledding hill but the snow is a bit to fluffy and they couldn't get much speed going. We are going to revisit the sledding hill maybe later.
Sarah got to work making her own snowman and spent quite a bit of time out there even after everyone else came in getting it just right.
I lent Ian my boots so I didn't have the right shoes so didn't stay out in the snow except for short moments
I'm not really sure what Ian was building but he was having a good time doing it!
Emily on the other hand was making a dragon
the beginning of the snow man
Olive LOVED playing in the snow. She chased snowballs and ran around in circles and insisted being in the snow as long as the kids were. Emily even spent some time throwing a tennis ball and Olive would leap through the snow to get it. Em even buried it for Olive to play hide and seek. Such a fun day. SO glad I made the decision to NOT go to school today. From what I understand they have no snow in Lake Oswego, only rain.
Em came in and asked for hot chocolate..... her favorite part of playing in the snow. We didn't have any marshmallows BUT we had whipped cream so I think she was quite happy.

Snow day!!!!!

The kids were hoping so much that we would have a snow day today but I got a phone call at six in the morning that said school had a two hour delay but there was still school today. They were super sad and moping around but I still made them get their uniforms aren't eat breakfast and get ready to go. We went to Sparas got our coats on gotten the car backpacks backed out of the garage as I called the school and talk to the school secretary. I told her we had a ton snow at the higher elevation and she said the kids wouldn't miss much today soooooo I made an executive decision and decided the Sedgewick kids were having a snow day today!

Back to School

It's hard to believe but summer is over and the kids are back in school. We have taken photos in front of the school at the statue of Mary I think since Ian has been in school but his year the statue has been moved and that parish office building has been torn down to make room for the building of the new school. We settled  for taking photos in the parking lot this year.
Ian is entering the 7th grade, Sarah the 5th grade and Emily 3rd grade

I was able to get photos of both Sarah and Emily in their classroom but didn't attempt to get Ian. I didn't want to embarrass him but I wish I had one.

We are ready for a fantastic school year.

I can't keep up with this kid...

He is a veracious reader and I can not keep this kid in books! He received this book in his Easter basket and started it right away. I think he finished it in 3 days and then was hounding me for the next book in the series {which was still in hardback}. I finally got him the next book and he finished that on in another 3 days. Now we are looking for the next book for him to read.

This little Piggy

When Ian brought these piggy's home I knew right away that I wanted to photograph them. The best part is he even named them. The one on the left is Government Pig and on the right is Ninja Pig. This morning I found them with "hats" on so I just had to photograph them again so I'm sure you will be seeing them again soon.

Sisterly Love!

Ian was leaving for Outdoor School and his teacher had told the class that the needed to have a hearty breakfast that morning. He had mentioned it to us the night before and the girls decided that they wanted to get up early to make him scrambled eggs to send him on his way.

Lacrosse

Lacrosse season has started and it has started off cold and rainy but it is turning out to be a good season anyway. Last year Ian played goalie a few times and really liked it and he has requested to play that position several times this year as well. I missed one the games and at the next practice 3 of the dad's came over to tell me what a great job he had done as goalie in the last game.

A shot of the coaches talking to the team. Ian is #84
I love these two shots of Ian throwing the ball, I got him in the air.
Align Center
Ian is on a team with his classmate Donny again this year which is nice for both of them

Fun on the Lake with the McMahons

The McMahons invited us to spend the 4th of July with them at their home on the lake. The kids had a lot of fun swimming in the lake and playing with friends.
The Cravens {only got a short visit with them}

Such a beautiful afternoon. Loved the shine of the setting sun on the water

The 4th at OGC

The Oregon Golf Club has their member appreciation day on the 4th of July every year and it is a favorite of the kids. There is a BBQ, face painting, balloon animals, jump house, water guns, water slide, music and the kids all time favorite, cotton candy and snow cones. The kids run around like crazy playing and eating more cotton candy and snow cones that you think can be possible and have a great time while the grown ups visit with friends. It is a fun afternoon.
Loved the look of these flags that lined the walk as we came in
