Summer Begins.....

I took the girls and Audrey to the pool and we ran in to some friends from school who had the same idea. The girls swam for hours playing games and enjoying cooling off in the water. I don't think we left until after 8 pm. What a great start to the summer..... one more week of school and were there!

The Breakfast Club

Our first trip of the year to the Lake Oswego Creamery for breakfast before school. Last year we went several times and for some reason here it is April and this is our first trip. I absolutely love doing this with the kids in the morning!

These two photos of us all together really crack me up. In the top photo we are all smiling and Ian is making a funny face and then we all make funny faces and Ian smiles. Silly boy!

Emily let me take a sip {but only a sip} of her hot chocolate

Back to school hair cuts for all the kiddos

We went to Salon be today for the kiddo's to get their hair cut for school and even before we went Emily had decided that she would get her hair cut short. She likes short hair and it suits her. She volunteered to go first and was so excited with her cut. Our stylist's name was Sarah also =D

It was funny as we walked in the place Ian wasn't so sure that he wanted to get his hair cut there {their logo dose have a bit of pink in it} but he let Sarah cut his hair and she did a great job even though he wasn't very clear on what he wanted "short but not too short over the ears, long in the back but give me a short cut". Sounded like he was describing a mullet but lucky for us Sarah was able to decipher what exactly he wanted. She also cut 5 inches off the back of Sarah's hair but it is still so long, almost touching her butt still. All in all, the kids look fantastic and ready for their first day of school.

All trimmed and cut and ready for school

School Shoe Shopping

School shoe shopping with the kids is so much fun

We have just a few days to get everything done before school starts and height on the list was shopping for shoes. I got everyone plus one extra kid out the door {Ian's friend Jackson had stayed the night} with a bribe of lunch or Jamba Juice.

Someone offered to help as soon as we walked in the door {half having eaten lunch and other half having drank juice} and asked if anyone needed their feet measured. Everyone's feet have grown! Emily now a 13 to 13 1/2 and Sarah is a size 2 but the funniest moment was when the tried to measure Ian on the kids foot measure and Ian's foot was too big. He let out a "woop" in his excitement and we all laughed. But he was sad to learn that although they measured him on the adult measuring tool he is a size 6 and would find most of his choices still in the kids department.

These kids were all over the store laughing and it was hard to get them to concentrate and pick their shoes but some how with even with all the goofing around {as noted in the photo above} each kid left the store with at least one pair of shoes and some left with more than that.

Shoe shopping trip...... successful

Checked in at the Marriott's Kaua'i Lagoon

Holy Moly this place is nice AND they upgraded us to a pool view!
In the front of the lobby they had a pond of Koi fish and a few very personable ducks. We never did wake up and go watch them feed the fish but the fist were always hanging around the edge of this pond.

This place was so beautiful. This was the pool with 5 hot tubs around the edges and just on the other side of the pool was a fantastic beach.

Our upgraded view!

Aloha Lihue !

Here we are ready to VACATION!

We were up at the crack of dawn to get on a flight to Seattle and then to Lihue. We made it out the door only forgetting Sarah's Kendal but lucky for her Daddy let her use his and he read on his phone. We booked our trip so late that we were not able to pick our seats on the flight to LIH and they were not able to get us moved together although the agent did move us within a few rows of each other.

Ian sat next to a couple and in "Ian" form managed to charm them with his quirky personalty. They loved him!

Emily luckily wasn't sitting too far from me so I could make sure she cooled down after she told me that she felt like she was going to get sick {that darn motion sickness!}. However, it turned out to be a good thing because the  passenger I was setting next to told me to make sure I got motion sickness medicine for the boat trip we were planning on taking and it proved to be a wonderful help!

Finally...... Summer!

Finally we have gotten a few days of sunshine in a row and we can finally enjoy the pool at the Oregon Golf Club. It came AFTER the 4th of July which is typical for Oregon. Either way we are thrilled with the sunshine!
