We started off the day with a 9 am game for Sarah that I took her to leaving Terry behind with Ian and Emily {who's game was at 10 am} I am so grateful that Sarah had a wonderful day/game. WE have had some tough practices with lost of crying and whining going on but after a GREAT practice on Friday and a wonderful game on Saturday - I think she is getting it under control. She hates the practice game they play called "sharks & minnows" where the goal is to steal the ball from each other and for some reason this sends her over the edge but not only has she mastered that issue she is turning into an aggressive soccer player. When the Olympics were on TV she said that she wanted to be in the Olympics one day and when I asked her what sport she planed on playing she replied "soccer". I have used that little bit of information along with making sure she is fed and it looks like we have turned the corner. So, Yeah for Sarah and her new found soccer skills {emotional and physical}.

We moved on to Emily's double header games at 10 and 11 am {lucky for me it was the field next to Sarah's game so I just walked on over} but let me just say WHAT ARE THEY THINKING GIVING KINDERGARTNERS DOUBLE HEADERS.
I am grateful for the fact that Emily even gets out on the field for one game little lone two on the same day! These pictures are quite deceiving, making it look as though she plays soccer quite aggressively {note the picture of her growling - her team is called the Cheetahs after all} but really it is hard to get her out on the field for any length of time {except when she is posing for me} and she falls down often {almost every time the other team gets a goal} and when she falls down she then decides that she needs to inspect the grass quite closely and really I think she prefers to "hug" her teammates more than she likes to chase the ball.

Even before Emily's 2nd game could get started I took Connor and Ian to get lunch and then to the football field for their game that was at 1 pm but they needed to be at the field at 11:45. This week it is hard to find something to be grateful for when it comes to football, however, I am going to try and look on the bright side and I am going to be grateful for the fact that Ian doesn't keep count of the number of plays he get put in for. I don't keep count either but it was so little it didn't feel like the 10 minimum plays but I am going to trust that those Dad's and coaches wouldn't put winning a little 'ol football game in front of rules that were put in place to make sure everyone gets a chance to play or even worse in front of a players hurt feelings - but I know better and football is a lot of things but it is nothing about feelings.
Ian's team played a West Linn team this week with two boys on it that he know {Shane - in his 4th grade class & Ty - our neighbor} and West Linn kicked there butt 22-0 and the coaches were not happy. In fact they were told that they were going to have a practice from he-double-toothpicks. Ian jokingly asked if he could miss practice on Tuesday and the first thing that ran through my mind was of course you can, you played so little how can you even slightly be held responsible for that loss. But Ian was joking and said that if he missed the coach might make it harder on the rest of the team and he wouldn't want that. Even though their classmate beat them they were genuinely excited to see him and I took a picture of the three of them, so I guess I am grateful for Ian's friendships being stronger than a game too!
