Quilting Bee -

An Oll Kindergarten Tradition

Each year for the school auction the Kindergarten class makes a quilt to auction off the help raise money for the school. In better economic times the quilt has raised large amounts of money {the highest being over $7000, I know it is crazy!}. We are not expecting anything so high this year but it should fetch a thousand or two. As this is our third child, this is the third quilt I have been a part of. We were crazy enough to purchase the quilt for Ian's year {no, we did not spend $7000} and have no plans of owning another but I enjoyed helping just the same. We met at the school and gave the kids a square with a drawing of a person and the kids did the rest {see Emily's square above}. They drew there hair, faces, arm & legs and added a few things that were important to them. Emily has kitty's, rainbows, butterfly's, hearts, flowers, a princess crown and a football {got me on that one}. The quilt group met a week ago and sewed all the kids squares and the fabric together and then we will send it to a quilter to finish it up. I think it came together very well and am enjoying the photo I have of it along with Emily's square as it will not be coming home with the Sedgewick's this year.
