again......................
Three times in one week! I don't know what has gotten in to me, because quite frankly I hate to cook. It is usually very unrewarding because there is very little that I can cook to satisfy all three kids and Terry and I as well. I have recently have decided to cook what I want to cook and if the kids don't like it {after trying it of course} then they can have a yogurt, or fruit or something else that they can get themselves. I know, I know, I know. I can already hear what your saying but those of you who read my blog and have kids that eat whatever you put on the table or go hungry please know that I don't really want to hear how well your kids eat. I am happy for you but I am fighting this fight with as much energy as I am willing to fight it with. I was forced to eat many things as a kid, things that I won't even put in my mouth as an adult so I am choosing to deal with our "food" issues my way.
Ok, wow! So this post started off as a post that I was going to talk about cooking but instead I felt the need to defend my kids eating habits. Hummmmmm. I wonder what that says about me judging myself or how as mom's we judge each other.
Sooooo....... back to the cooking
I made Chile on Monday and both Sarah and Ian hate beans but tried it and confirmed that yes they don't like Chili. Emily, however LOVED it and ate it several times through the week.
I made Chicken Vindaloo on Tuesday or Wednesday {the days have melded together and I can't remember}. It is a spicy Indian curry but I made it very mild to get the kids to eat it. It bombed {as i was sure it would, but Terry and I like it} so I added spice to it and Terry and I ate it several times this week and the kids ate pizza or chicken which I was ok to make because Terry and I had leftovers.
Then finally on Friday I made Beef Carbonnade, a classic Belgian stew. I thought for sure the girls would like the beef and the potatoes but that Ian would really hate the whole thing. I was wrong about the girls ~ they both ate small amounts but neither really liked it {Ian was at a sleepover but I can almost guarantee he will not like it}.
So there you have it, I am cooking something other than frozen pizza and chicken nuggets. {although I think the kids just might prefer these items}
