Spring Break

We headed to Loreto, Mexico for spring break this year to get away from the rain for some much needed sunshine. Terry had read about it in an Alaska Airlines magazine several years ago and we have be talking about going there for ever since. We finally made it happen this year {although due to full flights we had to travel Tuesday to Tuesday and the kids missed two days of school - I don't think they were too sad}

Loreto is located on the Sea of Cortez and we flew to LA and then on to Loreto. It is a developing tourist area and some say it is like Cabo was 20 years ago. It is very relaxed and laid back to say the least.

Terry and Ian hiked up to the top of this mountain next to the resort and took this photo. It shows part of the golf course {9 holes are open and the other 9 are due to open in a few months} which Terry managed to golf at most mornings, and then the resort with the beach front area and the private owned homes being built all the way to the right. It was beautiful.
The pool area was a great place to hang out although the water was a bit too cold for me and the hot tub was broken and waiting for a part. Things move a bit slower in Mexico.

The view from the front desk

The upstairs bar near the bell tower had happy hour almost every night with drink specials and appetizers (somehow we only made it up there one night). There were plenty of palapa on the beach {although there were only two rows} it was never so crowded that we had to get up early and go save one. We would start out on the beach almost every morning and move to the pool in the afternoon.

I wonder if there is a palapa factory that makes them? They all look the same :)
