First Swim meet of the year

Oh my goodness, what a day! We had Ian's end of the year football party from noon to 2pm and then had to be at the high school for his first swim meet at 3 pm. I had the girls with me for the football party and drooped them off at home with Terry and headed for the meet. Once there (since I was without kids) I offered to help where ever they needed it. Turns out they needed help with the bull pen (the area where they corral the swimmers for the correct heat and the correct lane). It was 4 hours of non-stop directing kids to line up for the correct heat, in the correct order, and sit in the right place, all in an enclosed pool with over 90 swimmers and at least 60 adults (what I am trying to say is, it was LOUD). My throat is sore from yelling over the noise and my feet and my legs are sore (which I didn't even realize until I got home because I was so busy). Ian is definitely improved from last year (although I didn't get to see much of him swimming) and at the next meet I plan to volunteer to hand out ribbons or time the swimmers, or better yet, maybe next time I will sit in the stands and take pictures and watch my son swim.
