Emily had a rough summer. When the cousins were in town we took them to the Alpine Slide on Mt. Hood and Emily rode down the slide with me. As we were coming down on our very first ride down I watched a bug flying toward us. I had enough time to realize that the way it was flying and the speed we were going down the hill there was a good chance that it would hit us. And sure enough it did. And it turned out that the bug was a bumble bee. And it turned out that it hit Emily on the chest. As soon as it hit her she started to cry and we still had to make it all the way down the slide. Once we got off the ride we searched and found the first aid station and although she was very sad she was brave. He fixed her right up, put a band-aid on her and she was ready to go.
She did have another run in with a yellow jacket a couple of weeks later. She was swimming in the hot tub having a great time and then in the next moment she was screaming. I ran out there and grabbed her and brought her screaming the house and we saw that her right arm had about 6 bite/sting marks on it. Once again after the initial crying she was brave and moved on after only a couple of minutes.
