OGC Couples Tournament

Terry Slingsby asked us if we were interested in playing in the annual OGC Memorial Day couples tournament. It sounded like a fun idea but Jane {Terry's wife} and I are still beginner golfers and were a little nervous about actually golfing in a real life tournament. Jane and I decided that we wanted to do it so long as we could play in the same foursome.

As I was getting out of the car I told Terry that I was nervous and he asked "What, you don't think we are going to win or anything do you?" Of course I didn't! I just didn't want to make a complete and utter fool of myself. The front nine was  best ball and I didn't really contribute anything although I kept giving it my best - it was just hard to out hit Terry. The back nine was a Chapman {we each hit a ball, then hit each others ball, then hit the best ball and alternated shots from there until it is in the hole} and I got to contribute more and really had a good time

We didn't win {I didn't think we would} but we were not last either. Somewhere in the middle. We had a great time and now Jane and I have our first tournament under our belt. Our goal is to get our handicap by summers end.
