It's a middle child thing

I made a cake for Ian's First Communion, and because Emily is my baby when she goes through First Communion it will be the last so I am sure I will make a cake for her too. So, two days before Sarah's First Communion when someone mentioned that they had to order a cake I had a momentary heart attack because a cake for Sarah had slipped my mind. That would be why at 9 o'clock at night the Friday before her Communion I was at the grocery store picking up some cake batter and then baking a cake in the shape of a cross into the wee hours of the night. As I was baking the cake I remembered that I didn't have anything to fill the cake with but lucky for me I caught my mom as she was leaving work and she picked up some pudding and whipped cream on the way home.
Then I frosted the cake white and put the {purchased but made out of frosting} flowers in the middle of the cake and put a soft pink border on it.
All of this because I too was a middle child.
And because I don't want Sarah to feel like I left her out
or that she is loved less because I didn't make her a First Communion cake for her.
She, I am sure, will have many other gripes, but not this one.
