Ian's class recited the poem Daniel Jazz, a religious poem about Daniel and the lion's den. They were so impressive and recited it so well.
Sarah
Sarah's class recited the book Click Clack Moo. The boy's were the farmers and the girls were the animals. It was very cute and they did a great job.
Emily
Emily's class recited the book The Crayon Box That Talks. They did a really good job and remember all there lines and were oh, so cute.

They were not chosen for the individual competition this year but it kind of snuck up on us and we didn't give a lot of time to memorizing their poems. Ian did a funny poem by Shell Silversteen called True Story. I was so proud of him because I never once asked him to study his poem or even helped him. He memorized it all by himself and his teacher even told me that he was close to being chosen to say it in front of the whole school. Sarah chose a religious poem {I will have to look for it} and she memorized 3 of the 4 verses the night before and we forgot to work on the 4th one in the morning. I felt so bad for her because she really wanted to be chosen. I learned later that she was picked to go first in the classroom and really wasn't ready. She wants to work on it more next year. When I told Emily about it several weeks ago she got big tears in her eyes and said she didn't want to do it so we picked Now I lay me down to sleep.... and although she had it memorised it wasn't enough to get picked and she was just fine with it. I was impressed with how well she did in her classroom poem considering she didn't want to do the individual one. She knew all the words and said them so animated and loud. She is better at it than she thinks.
