Sing your heart out

Sarah is a singer. She has hummed or sang while she colored since she was very little. She even managed to use it as a tool of irritation against her brother for awhile. Its not that she sings bad it's just that she sings and once she realized that it bothered Ian, well she put it to work, often. She started singing in her class as show and tell and last year she sang in the school talent show {which by the way you really don't have to have talent to get in it, they take all comer's} so after the show when someone from the school contacted me and said that I really needed to look into the Oregon Children's Choir & Youth Chorale for Sarah. I had all intention of doing it but never got around to it until just the other day. A couple of people told me that she would have an "audition" but that really just about everyone gets accepted however once we got there it seamed a different story {made me a little nervous for Sarah}. It turns out that they had the choir director for her age group chat with her a bit and then played a piano and had her sing and the person I was chatting with had me fill out paper work but wouldn't have me sign anything until the choir director said he was going to take her. YIKES - I had a moment of a bad American Idol auditions going through my mind where someone shows up and sings there heart out {badly} all because someone told them they could sing. Luckily for Sarah, sing her heart out she did! They accepted her into the Children's Preparatory Choir and she starts rehearsals next Tuesday for performances they will be doing around Christmas. She is sooooo excited and I am excited for her. That kid needs a shot in the arm of self confidence and I am hoping this will do it for her.
