On Wednesday afternoon Emily went to school for the very first time. She was very excited to go saying "I will miss you Mommy, but I am excited". I feel the same way. I am very excited for her {and maybe even a little for me} but I am going to miss her SO much. The first week she only attends school in the afternoons so the teachers can get to know the kids and the kids can get used to going to school {and maybe even break in the mom's who's "baby's" have flown the coop} and I fully expected to shed some tears as I dropped her off {I had shed some tears talking about it this summer} but Emily's excitement was contagious and she was so funny I never thought about how sad I was to leave her {Monday, when she starts going full days, may be another story}. As we were walking in I heard something in her backpack making noise and when I asked she said it was her "container" I let it go but when she got to her locker she unpacked her backpack and I just had to laugh at what she thought was important to pack and take with her. Her "container" was her jar of money and she had also packed a movie {Jungle Book} and her stuffed kitty.

Emily will sign in to the question of the day every day.

I understand you grief. My baby went to 1st grade this year - no more half days- I was very sad and it was odd being left alone at 7:30 in the morning. It has been a strange few days being in solitude for 7 hours. I am sure I will get used to it.
