The assignment for this week in the Photography 101 class had to do with depth of field - something that has alluded me for years and I finally feel like a light bulb went on.
On the bee picture my shutter speed was 1/400 {had I know the bee was going to fly I would have liked to have my shutter speed faster to stop the wings} aperture was 5.6, 55 mm focal length and the iso was at 400 all for shallow DOF.

On my picture out my front door I was attempting to get from the brick to across the street in focus.
1/40 f/36.0 49mm iso 400
I am having a great time with this class and so this week I am so grateful to Tara for letting me know about it. Not only am I learning so much about photography, I love that it has my camera in my hand daily, and thinking about things around me in a different 'light' so to speak.

OMGosh...what great shots Susannah! I am loving the photography class as well, but you are definitely getting better pictures than I am.
I'm so glad you are having fun! I'm a little behind. I'm going to do better this week :)
That is an amazing shot of the bee! Very cool!
