Go fly a Kite

We bought some parachute kites which were superheros or barbie dolls {kind of lame looking} with a parachute for the kids to fly. I managed to get Emily's up but then as hard as Terry and I tried we never could get Ian and Sarah's to fly. Emily flew hers for some time, just sitting on an upside down sand bucket while Sarah & Ian {who had given up on Terry and I} played in the sand. The next day when we tried to get the kites up in the air again we couldn't get any of them up. It was an exercise in frustration for sure.

I'm not a big kite fan with kids. We tried it at the Oregon Coast once and the only kite that consistently stayed up was the little itty bitty one that we bought for Ellie. And at the coast there is enough wind that if you tied your child to a string and threw him up in the air, they would probably fly.
