Exploring Mazatlan

We decided to go and explore Mazatlan and hopped on the bus and headed to the dock area to go and see the light house. After about a 40 minute ride we ended up at the dock area but the stench {of sewer combined with old fist} was so intense that we decided to stay on the bus. We ended up getting off the bus in old town near the Cathedral and explored the streets around the area. It was Easter Sunday so there wasn't a lot of activity but it was interesting to look at the buildings. From there we headed toward the ocean to walk along the beach.

As we were walking along 'shopping' all the booths that lined the sidewalks we noticed a man standing on a ledge looking like he was going to jump or dive in the ocean into a very dangerous looking place with a lot of rocks. Terry said that he read about it and there were cliff divers who jumped off. We stood around for a while but it became obvious that he was only going to jump when they collected enough money and every time I put my camera up to my eye someone would come over and ask for money for the diver. He did end up diving, but it was long after I gave up trying to photograph him. We had walked so far that I almost missed seeing it and it happened before I could get my camera on him but it was amazing to see.

The girls loved the Bougainvillea flowers and picked them every time we went out and then put them in water glasses back in our room.

This area that we walked along was an elevated sidewalk and there were some houses {more like condos maybe} that were in good shape but there were also some that were just rubble. It wasn't far from the ocean and it looked like it would be a very cool place to live {if you lived in Mazatlan}.
This is us walking on the down side of the sidewalk
