Heavy Hearted

My heart is heavy tonight. I just got off the phone with Sarah's teacher and she is having a tough time at school. Not academically but socially. Yesterday it all came to a head and ended with her leaving a note on another classmates desk saying "I don't like you". I know she can be just as mean as any other girl but I am so surprised at this note because the Sarah I see has a HUGE heart and I can't imagine her doing this, but alas she did.
I cant imagine what has gotten into her, what would make her do something that if done to her would crush her. My heart is sad because she is the cause of some other little girls sadness and because she seams to be struggling so much.
As if this was not bad enough in and of its self, it was the topic of conversation among all the little girls at school today and then home to the mom's, one who, even though it had NOTHING to do with her or her daughter put in a phone call to the mom of the girl Sarah wrote the letter to (all before I even knew anything about it) and asked her if she was ok. The teacher had not made the call to the mom as she had not talked with me yet so the little girls mom had no idea what she was talking about so the party not even involved got to be the first to share the "gossip". I hope it made her day and she got what she was looking for out of it because two moms and two girls are now very sad. The girl who Sarah hurt, her mom finding out someone could be so mean to her daughter, me, realizing my daughter was so mean and is struggling socially so much at school, and finally Sarah because I was able to make it clear to her how badly she has hurt someone's feelings and because of the gossip at school and among the moms she is now labeled a mean kid who has problems. So, my heart is heavy for both girls and for both of us moms.
